If you liked 2019's "Knives Out," then there is no reason why you won't love "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery." If there was ever a movie worth checking out in theaters instead of at home on streaming, this is it ("Glass Onion" is in theaters only for one week before being made available to stream on Netflix on December 23rd). Grade: B+Brilliant Detective, Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig, having more fun than ever) is back, entangled in a new mystery that once again pokes so much fun at the filthy rich that it draws blood. A new cast is assembled, all having received a mysterious invitation to the private island of billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton), and each of whom have good reason to want him dead. Oh, but that's no spoiler...nobody says that Miles even actually dies (or does he?). Nothing is as it seems, but two things are for certain: This group of actors creates amazing chemistry with one another, and writer/director Rian Johnson makes their on-screen energy float by effortlessly. Everybody brings their A-game, especially Janelle Monae who is perhaps expected to give a little more than the rest of the ensemble. Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, Jessica Henwick, Leslie Odom Jr. and Madelyn Cline round out the central group of characters, and unlike the previous "Knives Out" film, they are all given more balance and more screen-time to shine. Expect a few surprise cameos as well, none more heart-wrenching than a scene featuring Angela Lansbury and Stephen Sondheim - both of whom we lost this past year - as well as a few passing characters that might hint that we have just scratched the surface of a "Knives Out" Cinematic Universe. It'd be blasphemous to discuss plot details or reveal any of the several twists, so I'll leave that for you to discover. One thing I can say though, is that "Glass Onion" is the most fun I've had at the movies in 2022, and I beg you to see it in theaters with an audience.
