Opens locally Friday, November 25th, 2011 Run Time: 1 hour 41 minutes, Rated R Starring: Michelle Williams, Eddie Redmayne, Julia Ormond, Kenneth Branagh, Emma Watson, Judy Dench Directed by Simon Curtis (feature film debut) By no means is "My Week With Marilyn" a biopic, although the main draw of the film is that is about Marilyn Monroe. More specificly, it is based on a single week in 1957 as seen through the eyes of young Colin Clark, an assistant director assigned to Sir Laurence Olivier's film "The Prince and the Showgirl." This film paired the famous Olivier with Monroe, whom at first was star-struck himself, wanting the famous actress to be in his film. Reputedly, Olivier grew so annoyed by Monroe's behavior on the set that the two stars clashed, and Olivier decided not to direct another film until 13 years later. Opens locally Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011 Run Time: 1 hour 38 minutes, Rated PG Starring: Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones Directed by James Bobin (feature film directorial debut) The Muppets are back, and all's I can wonder is why they ever left! I would imagine that it would be impossible to have grown up in the 70s and 80s and not have known about The Muppets. Created by the late Jim Henson, The Muppets are a part of American pop culture, although their last theatric release, "Muppets in Space," was released over 12 years ago (they have been around with a few TV specials since then.) So what became of Kermit, Piggy, and the gang? Rating: 4 out of 5 starsGenre: Adventure, Family, Drama

Opens locally on Friday, November 4th, 2011 Run Time: 1 hour, 41 minutes, Rated R Starring: Elizabeth Olsen, Sarah Paulson, John Hawkes, Hugh Dancy Written & Directed by Sean Durkin (feature film debut) The oddly titled “Martha Marcy May Marlene” is a fierce, tense drama that borderlines as a “thriller” only because of the dark subject matter at hand. Other than the off-putting title, the major draw of this film is that it stars the younger sister (Elizabeth) of Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen, the child actors who made up the cute and annoyingly popular duo, the Olsen Twins, stars of TV’s “Full House” and some other straight-to-video children movies. |
