Reviews: 'Alita: Battle Angel,' 'Isn't It Romantic' arrive early in theaters this Valentine's Day week
It seems like everything that James Cameron touches, turns to gold. But can "Alita: Battle Angel" - a film co-wrote and produced by Cameron - overcome what looks to be an underwhelming box office and middling reviews thus far? I sure hope so, because "Alita: Battle Angel" is a ground-breaking, breath-taking achievement in filmmaking...a game-changing epic in the vein of "Lord of the Rings," "Avatar," or dare it be said, "Star Wars." Yes, "Alita: Battle Angel" is frickin' awesome, and despite its early-year release, it's guaranteed a spot as one of the best films of 2019.

Movie reviews: 'The LEGO Movie 2,' 'What Men Want' and 'Cold Pursuit' trek into theaters this weekend, Feb. 8
It's been a long, cold winter so far at the box office, but there are more than a few films opening this weekend that look to generate some heat...albeit one of which is mired in controversy. Yes, the long-awaited sequel to "The LEGO Movie" opens Friday, but so does the latest Liam Neeson film...and if you've been paying attention at all, you'll know that Neeson has been in the press lately for all the wrong reasons. Many are predicting that the negative buzz will all but kill the chances that "Cold Pursuit" does well, which could open the door for an R-rated comedy to have a good weekend.
There are a few smaller films premiering as well, and here are reviews of all the new films seeing release on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019:
Reviews: 'Cold War,' 'They Shall Not Grow Old,' 'Miss Bala' and 'Velvet Buzzsaw' opening Friday, Feb. 1
It's a cold, cold weekend at the box office, as no new releases look to chart all that well at the box office. No surprise, considering the major releases are an Oscar-nominated foreign film, an artsy-independent Netflix movie, a WWI documentary and an action film that was not screened for critics.
