View the trailer for "A Film Unfinished".
"A Film Unfinished" is a haunting, emotional documentary centering on the Warsaw Ghetto in 1942, Nazi-occupied Poland. At the end of WW II, one copy of an unfinished, 60 minute film was discovered in a vault in East Germany, simply titled, "Ghetto". The film, it turns out, was shot by the Nazis from within the Ghetto in 1942, and it's true purpose is unknown. It had no sound, no beginning, no ending, and was mainly thought of to serve as Nazi propaganda. "A Film Unfinished" as it is being released today, takes this original film and presents it in an intriguing, useful way. It is the kind of documentary that is fascinating, but using the word "entertaining" is not at all appropriate. This is the kind of movie that may be a tough sell in the theatre, but should be required viewing in any classroom dealing with the Holocaust.

How long does a movie have to be around before it can be called a "modern classic"? Welcome to "The Town": a gritty, violent, thrilling, breath-taking, and entertaining film that is easily....easily!...the best film of 2010.

It's hard to have any real emotional connection to "I'm Still Here", since we never quite know what it is we're watching. The film is a documentary on one of Hollywood's most promising actors, Joaquin Phoenix, who in 2008, abruptly announced his retirement from acting to pursue a hip-hop rapping career. Directed by Joaquin's brother-in-law Casey Affleck, the movie chronicles Joaquin's life from the time of his retirement to modern day. The problem is, many speculate that this movie is complete hoax, an elaborate fabrication meant to trick us into believing that what we are seeing is real. Is "I'm Still Here" a hoax? Is it a real documentary?

It's a fairly simple divide between who will like "Machete" and who will not: If you are sensitive in any way to violence, controversy, religion, or mindless mayhem, please stay away. For everyone else, "Machete" is some of the most absurd fun you'll have at the movies this summer.

The opening sequence of "The American" would lead you to believe that this movie was an espionage thriller, full of action, suspense, and some twists. It starts with a bang, a few bangs to be exact. Perhaps it was this opening and what followed, that led to my utter disappointment in "The American", misguiding my expectations. In any scenario, all of Clooney's charms and strengths disappear almost immediately in this slow, brooding character study that never quite reels us in.
