The final chapter of the existing X-Men franchise finds itself too far removed from what makes the X-Men great in the first place.

It seems like everything that James Cameron touches, turns to gold. But can "Alita: Battle Angel" - a film co-wrote and produced by Cameron - overcome what looks to be an underwhelming box office and middling reviews thus far? I sure hope so, because "Alita: Battle Angel" is a ground-breaking, breath-taking achievement in filmmaking...a game-changing epic in the vein of "Lord of the Rings," "Avatar," or dare it be said, "Star Wars." Yes, "Alita: Battle Angel" is frickin' awesome, and despite its early-year release, it's guaranteed a spot as one of the best films of 2019.
Do we have your attention? The full title of this article should have read: "Drives the franchise into the ground, where it hopefully remains buried for thousands of years," because if this installment is any indication, that's where this saga belongs.
There is no pleasure and it truly hurts to report that "Fallen Kingdom" - the fifth "Jurassic" movie since 1993's game-changing "Jurassic Park" - takes everything that the previous chapter had going for it and drops a massive dino-dump on it. This coming to you from a critic that absolutely loved...LOVED...the Colin Trevorrow-helmed "Jurassic World" film back in 2015 (see the full review of "Jurassic World" here). But where that movie had the perfect mix of ingredients, "Fallen Kingdom" is certain to leave you with a bad taste in your mouth. The long-awaited, highly-anticipated "Black Panther" has finally arrived, and it lives up to the hype.
hen a character in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" utters the sentence, "This is not going to go the way you think," they might as well have been speaking directly to the audience. The highly-anticipated "Episode VIII" is an emotional, powerful and exciting follow-up to 2015's "The Force Awakens," but for as much momentum as that film created, this newest chapter isn't looking to merely move the saga forward...it's aiming to re-invent it completely for the next generation. Don't worry, this review only contains mild plot spoilers and will not go near the several major twists and surprises that you're in store for...but if you don't want to know anything at all about the movie, please bookmark this review or come back later. Here's your last warning! There has been lots of buzz and anticipation surrounding the long-awaited "Blade Runner" sequel and the wait is finally over: "Blade Runner 2049" has arrived. But if that isn't your cup of tea, there are a few other films seeing wide release this weekend, including a big-screen adaptation of a popular novel and an animated film set to relaunch a popular childhood toy line.
